The Story of Minha Terra
The use of spoken voice as a tool for orchestral composition is a field that few composers have dared to explore.
Discover how Brazilian composer Denis Nassar finds a fresh way of making music by using his native language of Portuguese as the foundation.
Take a closer look at Brazilian Portuguese, a beautiful and extremely complex language rooted in more than 500 years of tradition.
Hear the stories of local Albertans and world-renowned composers as they discuss their approaches, experiences and challenges creating music – and how language has guided their discovery.
Based out of Calgary, Alberta, Denis approaches this new way of composing from the perspective of a contemporary composer, a music teacher, and a newcomer to Canada from his land of Brazil.
Targeting not only musicians and composers, Minha Terra is also a story for music fans, language lovers, and those who appreciate culture from around the world.
Approximately 90% of this documentary’s funding is budgeted for local talent. By supporting this production, you are contributing to Alberta’s art community.
